Biography

Cora studied Fine Art at DIT and then completed a Masters in Fine Art at NCAD.

After graduating Cora worked as an art teacher for adult VEC night classes, ran workshops with the National Gallery Outreach program, worked in continuing education at NCAD, lectured part time for 6 years at IADT and DIT.

She then joined the Black Church Print Studio, I worked on various Community Employment Schemes including Art Squad, Temple Bar Galleries and The Black Church Print Studio. I worked on various art workshops with adult community groups.

Cora’s Balance Bowls are fired numerous times with a series of colour washes using slips and underglaze. This process continues until the correct balance is brought about. It is a striving for inner balance that drives Cora in the making of these balance. Pulling forward and pushing back colour, to achieve visual balance but also as a means to control inner thoughts from overwhelming her mind. The whole process from the slow and repetitive way of slab and coil building and the delicate colour washes becomes an outward expression of her personal meditation.
