Julianne Gee Ho

Biography

Julianne Gee Ho (BFA & BArch), completed her Fine Arts degree with distinction in installation and site specific sculpture at the Elam-School of Fine Arts, Auckland University. She was born in New Zealand 1975 and migrated to Ireland in 2008. Julianne currently makes contemporary art in her Dublin studio. She is a multidisciplinary visual artist working in the mediums of ceramics, fibre and photography.

Julianne creates artwork inspired by nature and everyday objects. With Julianne’s botanical ceramic works, she reflects on the cycle of life with the use of colour. She may describe the four seasons or symbolically use colour to describe one of her diverse cultural backgrounds of Ireland, New Zealand or China. The leaf may be used as a symbolic metaphor describing a person’s presence or culture. She makes portraits of people by taking botanical references and calls that the representation of that person, relationship, or family. Her ceramic stoneware may be hung internally or externally on your garden walls.
