Biography

Trevor Woods has been a ceramic artist for over 35 years as well as a full time teacher working with students from 11 to 18 years he has recently decided to become a full time artist and create unique pieces that others will enjoy. He works from his studio that is situated in the heart of County Down which has now been rated by the Northern Ireland Tourist board as a 5 Star Activity Centre. The studio was opened 8 years ago giving him the opportunity to work in a beautiful space. His work over the past few years has changed depending upon his choice of sources. He works only from sources taken from the world around him and this is very evident in his work. His pieces reflect his own unique personality and you can see this is evident in his work. His rural scenes are part of his agricultural upbringing that has been so much a part of his life. He also loves being beside the sea and makes excellent use of the seashore around the coast of County Down. He spent most of his summers living in Newcastle with family.

All his work is hand built and all the finishes are fired to earthenware temperatures. He loves the colour palette that he can have with earthenware glazes.

His work is found in Craft galleries all around Ireland. He has recently had his work accepted into the National Trust properties all over the North of Ireland most notable the Giants Causeway Centre at Bushmills. He has exhibited for many years with Ceramics Ireland and has taken part in Pots in the Pens in Penrith and Scots Pots at Scone Palace. He has exhibited in the RDS Christmas show and plans to take on lots of new adventures in the coming years.
